Take It Make It Challenge Winners Profile

Hello!

Welcome to our Winners Profile, showcasing the Design Winner of our last Blog Challenge!

The very talented Design Winner of our March 2017 challenge is

Nikki Acton

Nikki won the challenge with this amazing canvas! We loved the immaculate stamping, the wonderfully shaded colouring of the flowers contrasts so well with the textured appearance of the background!

We asked Nikki a few questions all about stamping (well, we are Craft Stamper after all!)

Q: How long have you been a stamper, and how did you get started?

A:  My introduction to stamping and craft came about 3 1/2 years ago from a friend I play badminton with. I visited her house to borrow a Halloween costume and saw her craft room and scrap books. I was instantly addicted!

Q: What are your favourite kinds of stamps, and do you have a favourite stamp company?

A:  I like a broad range of stamps from a variety of companies with my go to stamps being PaperArtsy and Tim Holtz. Stamping can be a focal point for me or contribute to a textured background.

Q: Describe your style, are you a messy kind of stamper or a more ‘clean and simple’ kind of person?

A: Messy – definitely messy. In fact clean and simple really scares me! I love working with paint, ink, texture paste, stamps and stencils and my craft desk normally has 5 or 6 projects on the go at once.

Q:What kind of projects do you like creating the most?

A: I enjoy creating both cards and wall art. Layers and texture nearly always feature in some way – even on the smallest card I will emboss a stamped image or add die cuts.

Q: Apart from stamps, what is the one product you wouldn’t be without when you craft?

A: It may be a broad answer but it has to be paint. I love that different types of paint can be used in so many ways – colouring, creating texture, creating a resist for inks, stamping, splattering etc.

We also asked Nikki to show us a couple of her favourite stamped creations,  and share why she likes them so much. Here are the gorgeous projects she has chosen:

"This project shows how stamping and mixed media go together so well! This wall hanging includes painted layers, stamping (with white paint on the tags and also on acetate for the Runway Girls), die cuts, stencilling and sanding!"- Nikki

"I have selected these cards as they make me smile. Sometimes when you have an idea you just have to go with it! "- Nikki

Congratulations on being our March Design Winner Nikki , and it was lovely to learn a little more about you!

Our Marvellous May Issue is out on Friday!

Our Marvellous May issue hits the shops this Friday... Subscribers are already receiving their copies!

***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT***

As the subscriber copies started to arrive, it became apparent there was a problem. Namely, the stamp included with the magazine was not the Grunge Star by Kim Dellow as featured on the cover and in the projects inside, but a bird on a branch stamp. Unfortunately, it has transpired that a mix up at the printers has resulted in the July issue covermount mistakenly being sent out with the May issue. We apologise unreservedly for this error. The Grunge Star WILL feature as a covermount in the near future, and keep hold of your bird stamps (designed by Jaine Drake) as we will be featuring some amazing ideas for creations using it in our next issue. Again, please accept our sincere apologies.

The May issue is jam packed full of fabulous projects!

Fran Westmoreland has created the fabulous altered book that graces our cover this month. Fran is sharing her first tutorial with us in this issue, and it’s a stunner! Creating an altered book is such a fun way to give a new lease of artistic life to an otherwise unloved item. Check out the excellent tutorial from Fran on page 6.

We are also welcoming Susanne Rose to the Craft Stamper family this issue. Susanne has created a wonderful journal page for us, so delicate and full of detail! This is another wonderful tutorial to study, why not have a look on page 22.

We also have an wonderful Powertex project by John Glossop:

An inspirational Masterclass from Anneke De Clerck on foiling:

and a gallery full of ‘New Beginnings’ themed cards in this issue, including this stunner from Karen Sessions:

Lots for you all to experiment with, and don’t forget, I would love to see what you create! Email me, or share on our Facebook page!

So, where can you get your hands on a copy of the magazine?
For subscriptions, please go to: www.craftstamper.com
